G is for Gherua #AtoZChallenge

G‘Rang de tu mohe gheruaaaa…aa…aaa’  (Colour me red, the color of love) the song wafts in the room.  Shah Rukh, as usual, was epitomizing the romantic hero and Kajol was looking as beautiful as a dream.

‘I wish Sam you were as romantic as Shah Rukh,’ Dia says.

‘You mean, I am not?’ asks Sameer taken aback.

‘Just look at Shah Rukh.  As if he has nothing else to do and the girl is his world.  He has the girl in his arms and those words are so beautiful,’ she says.

‘Listen,  the guy gets paid to do this.  You should probably check with his wife what he does in real life.’

‘Forget real life.  Can you say something nice and poetic for me just like Shah Rukh?’  Dia asks.

‘Hmm.. give me few days.  I cannot have something at the spur of the moment.  The song is also written over days and so sounds perfect,’  says Sameer.

‘Oh! You are killing the romance.  Forget the technicalities,’ says Dia.

‘Mmmm,  forget it.  You are just pulling my leg.  Besides, I find it superficial.  You know I love you and I do not have to declare it all the time,  not to you and definitely not to the world.’

End of discussion,  thought Dia.

The next morning when Dia woke up,  there was a note beside her pillow.  It had ‘I LOVE YOU’ written in big, bold letters decorated with a few tiny hearts and smileys.

***This has been written for the A to Z Challenge 2016. My theme is A to Z in the life of Dia and Sameer, a geek and non-geek couple.  Short stories on their approach to daily life.  Do you know people like them?  Do share the stories with me. ***

  1. Sam and Dia sound so much like the Hum Tum couple? The girl wants attention , the guy has an attention disorder and gets all awkward when the girl points it out.. its super cute and so very real.

  2. He loves her and truly cares, so what if he isn’t showing it with singing, dancing, all the flair.
    Another wonderful episode Lata 🙂

  3. Sameer is true in a way. Daily declarations of love do not necessarily mean true love. The little things, the cute words, and the heartfelt actions are what matter. And his “I love you” also, I’m sure, brought a smile on Dia’s face 🙂
