Dia checked the time, turned over and slept again. She was still sleeping when Sameer got back at 7.30am. He prepared tea and woke her up again.
‘Wakey wakey sleepyhead,’ Sameer sang.
Dia sat on the bed rubbing her eyes.
‘I want to sleep again, ‘ she muttered.
‘At this rate, you will soon become an ‘Aunty’ like your friend Nita,’ said Sameer.
‘Shut up.. I will start on a routine next week,’ she said.
‘That next week will never come. You will start coming with me from tomorrow. You. are in front of the laptop for hours. All you will gain is a big bum.’
Dia agreed reluctantly.
From the next day, she started going for a jog with Sameer. It was tedious initially, but Sameer would not let her sleep.
In two months, she was looking fitter, healthier and the skin was radiating.
‘Sameer, I am getting so many compliments from my friends, thanks to you,’ she said.
Sameer puffed up his chest and said, ‘I am proud of you my girl.’
Next morning, Dia refused to go for the jog and it continued for a week.
On Sunday, Sameer questioned her lack of enthusiasm for jogging.
She said, ‘ Now that I am so fit, I don’t think I need exercise. I will start again once I put on weight. Let me sleep till then.’
And she showed her widest, cutest smile.
