X is for eXempt #atozchallenge

Today, I recommend visiting the blog of Monica Deshpande called Varan Bhaat and pick up some authentic recipes which we savoured in our childhood.  And then hop over to some amazing vistas via Wanderlust tales managed by Rajlakshmi.

It was one of those days when they had a good tiff.  There was no screaming.  But,  a complete stop to communication, answering in mono-syllables,  both going on with their respective activities.

And finally there came a time when they could no longer carry on.  They missed each other.  The talks,  the coffee,  the teasing.  And the situation opened up like this one evening.

Dia cleared her throat.  Sameer pretended to be reading his beloved newspaper.  He totally ignored it.  Dia increased the volume of the television.  It was the News channel.  Sameer found it difficult to ignore.  Dia noticed that he was peeking from the left side of the newspaper.  So,  she walked up to block his vision pretending to do something.  She did have a tough time there as there was nothing she could do in the middle of the room.

Now, Sameer cleared his throat and even coughed a bit.  Dia pointedly looked at something in the ceiling.

‘Is there something on the ceiling?’ asked Sameer sounding rather concerned.

‘No.  I was just checking it out.  Do you want some coffee?’

Sameer continued reading the newspaper.  And when Dia came with the coffee mugs,  they spoke like the past few days never existed.

And thus ended the great tiff which was exempt from apologies.

**This has been written for the A to Z Challenge 2016. My theme is A to Z in the life of Dia and Sameer, a geek and non-geek couple.  Short stories on their approach to daily life.  Do you know people like them?  Do share the stories with me. ***

The characters Dia and Sameer are fully imaginary.  Any likeness to people is purely coincidental.   The views are the characters’ own and light-hearted.  They are not endorsements.
