If we were having coffee… 6th Nov #weekendcoffeeshare

if-we-were-having-coffeeHey everybody.  How is the post-holiday-back-to-work life treating you?  After four days of sheer laziness,  where we just ate, slept, went for a movie, visited friends and relatives,  it was difficult to get back into work routine.  Does it really take only four days to get you off your routine?  For me it did.  And I felt, the days flew pretty fast.

The first day I spent with my younger son at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya,  Museum for short.  We spent a good part of the day walking in the museum and loved every moment of it.  I had some other outings also planned,  but seeing the tired legs of my 11-year old,  I gave up.  We came back to Churchgate station,  bought our food and sat on the bench.  It was good to rest our legs and watch the trains arrive and go.  My son enjoyed it.

The second day, was date day with the husband for the Movie Ae dil hai Mushkil.  Another fun day,  came to an end too soon.  Day three and four went faster than I could think about it.  This was also the first time,  we could spend some couple time on a holiday.  Till now,  we used to be running around the children,  celebrating around their wishes and schedules.  A few more years and we will start missing their childhood.  My only wish is to spend more time with my 11 year old before he becomes a rebellious teen.

I see that a lot of you are participating in #NaNoWriMo and #NaBloPoMo.  But,  I couldn’t sign up for either due to time constraints.  I’ll be there next year for sure.  This month is also for the #TornadoGiveaway season 3.  It sounds cool to call it ‘Season 3’.  Sounds like #BigBoss Season 10.  So,  in this,  a group of bloggers led by Rubina Ramesh and her team at  The Book Club Tours (www.tbcblogtours.com) will be promoting books for free.  It is a way to highlight new authors,  less publicised books.  It helps to bring focus to new writing and some excellent authors.  I was part of the #TornadoGiveaway Season 2 and had discovered many new writers(for me) like Usha Naryanan, Shilpa Suraj, Adite Bannerjie, Paromita Goswami to name a few.  This will mean multiple posts in a day to promote the authors.  Bear with me and give them a look.  You may discover new writing.

What do we get out of all these free promotions? Besides finding new writing,  it also means tons of books for the winners.  Last year I won 12-15 books as I was one of the winners and hope to be a winner this time too.  That is why it is called a TORNADO.

How were the holidays for you?  What are you planning for Christmas holidays?  Yeah,  we have started about that one already.

  1. Wow! I liked the date with hubby and sonny boy! Really sweet and cool!
We stayed at home as Aaryan came back for a week from his Boarding school. I am doing NaBloPoMo and it is challenging me 😀 Tornado 3 is exciting and looking forward to winning books! Good luck to you for it too, Lata 🙂

  2. Good to know you spent some quality time with the family! Think we just need to snatch those moments every now and then. I am making a conscious effort to do that as well. My son is now 12 and i know what you mean by holding onto that phase and making the most of the time you spend together. Best wishes with the #TornadoGiveaway season 3. Sounds pretty cool and will surely keep you busy. 🙂

    1. Do indulge in all kiddish activities you can do with your son now. As my elder one is 17, I know that soon he will grow up. It will just leave me feeling terribly lonely.

  3. We stayed at home and celebrated Diwali. Didn’t really go out anywhere. My mil was visiting then. No plans for Christmas just now as well. Again expecting family to visit. Oh yes, G and I watched The Accountant the next day of Diwali. Was a good movie. Didn’t find either of the Hindi releases worth a watch.

    1. Rachna, all theatres in my neighbourhood were hijacked by the two Hindi movies. So we decided to watch the lesser of the two evils. Have a great week ahead.

  4. I loved the Shivaji museum when I visited it two summers ago with Gy. We spent the whole day there. It was fabulous 🙂 I know what you mean about holding on to their childhood. I see Gy growing up and feel such a pang that the carefree days are coming to an end. Sigh. Glad you got some time for yourself, Lata 🙂

    1. Shailaja, spend with Gy as much as possible. It is not like we are not there after that, but the childhood innocence will be over soon. My elder son is 17 and is a rebellious teen without a cause. I have to control all my anger at his illogical arguments. But, it is a difficult time for them too to be grown up suddenly. Be in touch when you come to Mumbai again.

  5. Ask me about holiday hangover. I took a 12 day break and I am not getting used to work and my own home 😉
But yes, these breaks are so good that I ca deal with anything.
Good to know you’d a lovely festival break, Lata

    1. Parul, I saw your tree-climbing picture and my first thought was ‘I want to do that, again.’ Its been so long. Will it be able to take my weight? Your holiday photos were fabulous and makes me want to take off too. Thanks for visiting.
